Are you a beginning user of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or someone who wants to understand more about TCM? It’s a complicated field that’s grown in popularity, but it is still difficult to understand for the average consumer.
As a beginner, yet increasingly savvy learner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), I’ve had to search pretty hard for websites that are easy to navigate and content that’s (relatively) easier to understand. Some of these are linked to stores or clinics, but it doesn’t necessarily detract from the usefulness of the site. Acupuncture information is also a big part of these sites, but I have yet to try any acupuncture so I generally ignore those sections.
Below are the best ones I’ve found so far on Chinese herbal medicine. (Look out for a future post on the best books I’ve found so far – there are a lot of mediocre ones.)
Me & Qi
Me & Qi is a well-organized, comprehensive website with a great, informative format for describing formulas and their ingredients. Its database of herbs, formulas, and concepts is nice-looking, and easy to use. I find myself going to this site the most.
The Yin Yang House
The Yin Yang House has an online store of products, an easy to search database, blog posts, and a seemingly well-used, searchable forum on many aspects of TCM.
Acupuncture Today
Acupuncture Today appears to be a TCM publication for practitioners, but it has many good articles (with a searchable archive) that are written in a way that even lay persons can understand and find useful. Their articles, written by experienced practitioners, often come up on my Google searches on concepts and formulas.
Sacred Lotus Arts
Sacred Lotus Arts is a good-looking, well-organized website about all aspects of TCM. Some sections are not finished, but I like the diagnosis section of this resource.
Institute for Traditional Medicine
Although this site is not comprehensive like some of the other sites, ITM has a lot of insightful, detailed, research articles on TCM.
What are your favorite sites? I would love any tips for good, additional resources. Email me at: wishiknewbefore20@gmail.com or leave a comment below.
